What do you say when somebody asks you what do you do? You’re probably saying something like I own XYZ Company, I work at ABC Company, I’m an accountant, I’m a bookkeeper, I do bookkeeping, I do QuickBooks. I know because that’s exactly what I have told people in the past as far what I do. I have found a very effective way to tell people exactly what I do in a way that will be memorable and that will help me to get referrals, and most importantly, that will speak directly to my ideal client.

Rather than telling people what I do in terms of what my job is or the fact that I do QuickBooks, what I say is, “Hi, I’m Veronica Wasek and I help modern entrepreneurs to confidently grow their business without worrying about bookkeeping or QuickBooks.” Now do you see the difference between you telling someone where you work at or what your title is versus what I just said? I help modern entrepreneurs to confidently grow their business without worrying about bookkeeping or QuickBooks. Huge difference.

I am actually using client attraction factors here in this very short phrase to let people know who my ideal client is, those are modern entrepreneurs, and what I do for them, I help them to confidently grow their business without worrying about bookkeeping or QuickBooks.

Notice too that I have used some emotion factors. I help them to confidently grow their business without worrying, and also some money factors, I help them to grow their business. Next time that you’re asked what do you do, stop telling people that you’re a bookkeeper or that you do QuickBooks or that you do bookkeeping and instead tell them how you help your ideal client.
